TRACKING ATROCITIES: ONGOING HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AMID CONFLICT IN ETHIOPIA
The report, covering the period from July to September 2025, confirms that the human rights crisis in Ethiopia is not only intensifying but also spreading to, at least, two additional regions, i.e., Amhara, Oromia. OJAH documented 39 new incidents of human right violation in the last three months. Unlawful killings remain the most frequent atrocity, with Ethiopian Government Forces still cited as the principal perpetrator. The data provides compelling evidence that civilians are harmed in nearly 90% of incidents. The majority of human rights violations committed by other actors are committed in the presence or close proximity of government security forces who turn a blind eye, suggesting a complete institutional decay and collapse. OJAH urgently calls for a decisive international response to investigate the situation, impose targeted sanctions on perpetrators of violence, and support schemes to solidify a unified advocacy and accountability strategy front outside of the radar of the government.
